Unit 6: Working in the Art & Design Industry

My Employment
In order to gain an understanding of the design industry, it is important to see where I fit into it. I have a certain roles and responsibilities within my organization.

This is my job description.
I mainly use Adobe Photoshop and InDesign to create artwork and application forms.I use Photoshop to create images for my training and for other tasks such as making a marketing booklet informing new comers what the marketing team are about. When creating artwork I develop it in stages, and make several different options of the final product. I create application forms using InDesign for a number of different things such as fitness applications to enrolment forms. I ensure I cover all aspects of the brief and keep to college design standards. I keep to all deadlines and work to the best of my ability. I also keep a job diary in which I write down everything I have done each day.

My responsibilities are to deliver design solutions for printed and promotional materials for each appropriate target market. To use Mac hardware and design software to design layouts for a wide range of promotional materials. To make sure all College publicity materials keep to the College brand, style and standards. To have a flair for creativity and the ability to manage workloads. Being part of a team and for promoting ideas and suggestions to improve the work of the marketing service.

I do not deal directly with clients, but work gets passed along the manager.

I work on my own when creating artwork and application forms but when a certain font is needed I have to pass the work on to be modified as my computer is a later version and does not have the font of the college branding. I also complete the whole design process on my own.

I then decided to create a Photoshop page with a background and some  photos to illustrate what I do.
